DASSEL, COKATO, MN – The Dassel-Cokato High School gymnasium was the site of the Minnesota Percussion Association’s winter drumline competition March 17.
Most people are probably familiar with summer drum corps. But what is winter drumline? The MPA states “the modern indoor marching percussion idiom is characterized by pageantry and visual performance elements.”
In other words, winter drumlines serve up spectacular feats for the senses. Each drumline’s program tells a short story through music, precisely choreographed marching and movement, and the enthusiasm and showmanship of every member of the team.
When all was said and done March 17, DC’s drumline, and their performance of this year’s show “Activate,” had earned another first-place finish in their class.
