DASSEL, MN – Shelves are being stocked at the Dassel Area Food Shelf as it gets ready to open next Tuesday just in time for Christmas.
That was the goal of Dassel Mayor Mike Scanlon who wanted to see the food shelf open before Christmas.
“I’m very impressed by the people in this town and around the area,” Scanlon said, giving extra credit to food shelf coordinator Brenda Voigt and the volunteers who have helped get it ready.
The food shelf will be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. and Thursdays from 3 to 7 p.m. with the exception of Christmas Eve, Voigt said. Dassel area residents in need of the food shelf should come during those hours with proof of residency.

Drop off items at the building that houses Opsahl Plumbing and Heating on Atlantic Ave. West in downtown Dassel. This is where the food shelf is located. The food shelf number is (320) 693-7661.
