Dassel 4-H hosts busy July meeting

by Anna Holm

The Dassel Lamplighters 4-H Club hosted its meeting July 9.

At the first stop on their summer farm tour, the 4-H’ers were given the opportunity to meet and become familiar with various animals, such as sheep, chickens, donkeys, and ducks.

These animals were owned and cared for by fellow 4-H members. The group was also informed of the process to properly care for these animals.

The club then traveled to the Kisner home, where members participated in various activities, such as completing a club project for the fair, enjoying a potluck meal, listening to demonstration speeches performed by Carson Kisner and Eleanor Weckwerth, and hosting their monthly meeting.

Discussion included representation of the club at the Dassel parade, participation at the Meeker County Fair, and the 4-H Foodstand.

My name is Bruce Schulze and I live in Hudson WI. My sister ( Diana ) and her boyfriend of 20 years is Tom. They live in Buffalo MN and they have a small farm close to Cokato. The day before Memorial Day Tom was killed in a farming accident. He raised Brown Swiss Cows which have already been sold. Diana has about 26 Alpacas and we are trying to find them a good home. I have been on the computer a lot and saw a suggestion to contact local Four H Clubs. Would you know of anyone that would be interested in the Alpacas ? Not that this makes any difference Tom grew up in Dassel and is buried there. Thanks for any help that you may provide.
