Controlled burn reignites, results in Meeker County house fire

MEEKER COUNTY, MN – A house fire at the home of Joyce Boxell, 63, in Danielson Township was reported May 7 around 4:42 p.m, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.

An investigation determined the fire was started by embers of an earlier controlled vegetation burn, which reignited.

The house was deemed a total loss.

Boxell was outside when the fire started and did not receive any injuries, according to the Sheriff’s report.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, the Grove City Fire Department, Grove City Rescue, Litchfield Fire Department, Cosmos Fire Department, Atwater Fire Department, and Gold Cross Ambulance assisted at the scene.
