You should see the smart board technology the city of Dassel is using at its council meetings in city hall. Residents can observe their city council meetings live on cable TV from the comfort of their own homes. It’s great for cold winter nights when you want to know what’s going on at city council, but don’t want to go outside to get to city hall. There are two big display screens set up in the council chambers. One faces the audience, so the audience can see what the TV audience sees. The other display faces the council members, so they also can see what the TV audience sees. City administrator Myles McGrath controls what shows on the displays and the cable TV broadcast by a computer mounted on a podium. Last night, was the first time I saw the cameras, Power Point presentation, and TV all work together at the same time.
