DASSEL, MN — Christmas trees in Dassel that are placed curbside by Wednesday morning, Jan. 13 will be picked up and recycled at the city compost site, according to discussion at the Dassel City Council meeting Monday. Three volunteers on the city council, Council Members Jason Benzing and Bob Lalone, as well as Mayor Mike Scanlon, will be helping the city public works with collecting and disposing the trees. Residents are asked to remove any decorations or other items from the tree before placing it curbside.
The service is free, but Scanlon asked those who use it to please donate something to the new Dassel food shelf located at the Opsahl Plumbing & Heating Building, located on Atlantic Ave. West in downtown Dassel. The food shelf number is (320) 693-7661. Hours are Tuesdays from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. and Thursdays from 3 to 7 p.m. In addition, a cart will be available at the municipal liquor store that will gather food shelf items there, too.
