DC Marching Band is looking fine (video)

DASSEL, MN — To my surprise, the video I took of the DC Marching Band during the Dassel Memorial Day program not only worked, but it garnered 109 views on YouTube without any promotion on behalf of the newspaper.  I remember wrestling with the camera, and uploading it without success (or so I thought).  Nevertheless, I was surprised to find it on YouTube with this many views.  Please enjoy it belatedly.

Petersons observe 50th anniversary

pastorDASSEL, MN — Fifty years of marriage was honored this month as Pastor John and Lynda Peterson observed their 50th anniversary at Gethsemane June 21.  The happy couple is shown five decades ago.

A lesson well learned (video)

boyleYes, I know you’re busy, but it’s worth the trouble to click this video (click here), even if you’ve seen a little clip of it on the news a few weeks ago. As usual, short clips and sound bytes really don’t demonstrate what all the hubbub is about.

The Scottish singer Susan Boyle, 47, wowed judges during “Britain’s Got Talent,” in Glasgow recently. But the true story is about not judging a book by its cover, and what a woman of substance Susan Boyle is. This video has received 100 million views worldwide.

Looking for snow, ice or fun in the sun pictures (where’s Phyllis Terning when you need her?)

icUPDATE: Kyle Dibb turned in some gorgeous pictures, prompted by his Shirley Dibb.  Click here to see.

Do you have interesting pictures of snow or ice formations?  Or just something pretty?  Please submit them to the newspaper at news@heraldjournal.com, and we’ll post them on the web.

Similarly, for those snow birds down south, do you have any “Ha ha, I am here in the sun and you are not,” pictures of a sunny location (with yourself in it)?  Please send them along, too, and we will post them online.

The photo shown is a natural ice sculpture in that formed on some of the bushes in the front of the HJ office in Winsted.
