Cokato winter parking ban waived

COKATO, MN – The Cokato City Council approved waiving the winter parking ban at Monday’s meeting. The lack of snow, along with the recent warm weather which melted the little bit of snow received this winter, has led to “soupy” driveways. Allowing residents to park on the street overnight will give the muddy driveways time to dry out.

However, the council also asked residents to use good judgment if it does snow again this season. “Obviously, if we get a big snowfall, keep the cars off the street,” commented Council Member Carl Harju.

Cokato City Council receives good audit report, with some warnings

COKATO, MN – The Cokato City Council received a clean bill of health during its annual audit report Monday, but was also given several recommendations for the future.
Paul Harvego of Conway, Deuth, & Schmiesing presented the audit to the council, saying, overall, the city’s funds are fairly good, and there were no findings of noncompliance.
However, the city was given several warnings by Harvego, including trying to stop the decline of the general fund balance, bringing the fund balances in both the water and sewer funds to a more comfortable level, and making sure its deposits were properly insured so the city will not lose money if the bank its deposits are in fails.
