Meeker County working to open CSAH 15

DASSEL, MN  – Meeker County Aid Highway 15 is temporarily closed between 190th and 200th streets after it was found to be unsafe after the recent rainfall, according to Ron Mortenson, highway engineer. The county is currently working on repairing a culvert that appears to be the cause of the excess water along the roadway.

Hutchinson Technology plans to reduce costs by about $25 million by end of fiscal 2010

McLEOD COUNTY, MN – Hutchinson Technology Incorporated today reported a net loss of $18.5 million, or $0.79 per share, on net sales of $77.3 million for its fiscal third quarter. In the preceding quarter, the company reported a net loss of $15.6 million, or $0.67 per share, on net sales of $87.6 million.

High winds bring down power line in Cokato

webwindCOKATO, MN – Due to strong winds, the Cokato Fire Department was called out this morning around 9:20 a.m. for a power line down on Johnson Ave.

Xcel Energy was called and the fire department remains on scene until Xcel arrives. Use alternate routes until the area is clear.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for west central and south central Minnesota from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with sustained speeds from 30 to 35 mph and gusts up to 50 mph.

School board agenda reports resignation of Dassel Elementary principal

DASSEL, MN – The agenda for Thursday’s scheduled Dassel-Cokato School Board  meeting includes a resignation by Dassel Elementary Principal Rob Nudell effective June 30.

Dassel homes evacuated after car hits valve for natural gas line

DASSEL, MN – Several homes were evacuated Wednesday evening as a result of a car hitting a natural gas line on 700th Avenue in Collinwood Township.

At 8:35 p.m. the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, the Dassel Fire Department, Hutchinson Fire Department, Hutchinson Ambulance, State Fire Marshall, and the Meeker County Highway Department responded to a report of a one-vehicle car crash that hit a natural gas line on 700th Avenue, approximately a quarter mile north of County State Aid Highway 18.
