Want to get away? Head north to Woodland Resort

A few years ago I was invited along on a family vacation at my nephew’s company cabin on Lake Geneva, north of Alexandria, and I fell in love with the area.

I was looking for a spot to get away last year and came across Woodland Resort. I like to take my mini vacations in the spring and fall of the year as I prefer the cooler weather rather then the hot weather. Continue reading ‘Want to get away? Head north to Woodland Resort’

How good are you at trivia?

I am in a daily trivia tournament with a bunch of friends and although I am not the best at it, I still enjoy playing and seeing who is in the top 5 for the day. Here are a few trivia questions I came up with, can you answer them without looking them up?

1. Today (May 11) the state of Minnesota is how old?

2. What are the five most celebrated ‘Hallmark’ holidays?

3. What is the name of the new business opened in Dassel? (front page story 4/7/08 ED)

4. Who is the points leader in NASCAR as of the May 10 race in Darlington?

5. Who was the 34th United States President? (1953-1961)

6. Mother’s Day has been celebrated for how many years?  ____ anniversary.

Good luck and enjoy your day! Roll

NASCAR update

I am totally hooked! I love watching the races on Sundays. Wednesday of each week the excitement begins and I start thinking about Sunday’s race. I also mentioned that I joined a fantasy NASCAR league this year so I am all about the qualifying race as well. Continue reading ‘NASCAR update’

Schoolhouses of Minnesota

I purchased a few books from a gentleman that spoke at the Dassel Cokato Rotary Club last year and I wanted to share some of the photos in his book Schoolhouses of Minnesota. The photographer is Doug Ohman of Pioneer Photography. You can view some of his photos and get his contact information by logging onto his website www.pioneerphotography.com - For now, enjoy the photos from one of his books. Can you remember walking into your old school house?
