American Legion brat feed

The Dassel American Legion post 364 and Dassel-Cokato Boy Scout Troop #253 will host a brat and hot dog feed Thursday, Aug. 12 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Red Rooster Foods Grocery in Dassel.

New diner coming to Dassel

Gary Plamann and his wife always wanted to own a restaurant, and now they are getting to fulfill their dream in Dassel. Plamann is “extremely excited” to be bringing Mookie’s Diner to Dassel.

Millinery in the Museum opens Aug. 7

Millinery in the Museum, an exhibit of women’s hats from different eras, opens Saturday, Aug. 7, 10 a.m., at the Dassel History Center. The opening will include a tea and coffee party. Irene Bender of Dassel, will present the program “The Time of Hats.” Those in attendance are invited to wear a favorite hat to the party. The exhibit runs through Aug. 28.

Hydrangea art exhibited at DHC

Artist Rose Edin’s painting “Hydrangeas in Bloom” and artist Tom Nelson’s stained glass “Hydrangeas” will be shown together at the Dassel History Center from Aug. 7 through Labor Day. Nelson was inspired by Edin’s painting and did a stained-class interpretation of it. Other pieces of their artwork will be included in the exhibit.

A quiet National Night Out celebrated in Dassel and Cokato

Cokato Corn Carnival back to full schedule for 2021

For 72 years, the Cokato Corn Carnival has brought people together, even through a pandemic, and this year’s celebration will continue the tradition. “Back and better than ever,” Dori Kimball said in a press release from the Cokato Corn Carnival Committee. This year, the carnival will take place Monday, Aug. 9 through Wednesday, Aug. 11 at Peterson Park.
