Names of Corn Carnival volunteers sought

COKATO, MN – Do you know someone who has contributed to the success of the Cokato Corn Carnival the past few decades?

The Cokato Corn Carnival committee is seeking names of people who have served for 45 years or more in the corn stand, information booth, or bingo stand, and have not previously received a service award from the committee.

“This special recognition is taking place because we feel we may have missed some people who we need to recognize and thank,” noted Dorene Erickson, Cokato Corn Carnival chair. “We have no past records to check on these important people, and we’re hoping this is a good way to find them and thank them.”

Volunteers will be recognized during this year’s Cokato Corn Carnival coronation ceremony.

DC schools accepting Fine Arts Hall of Fame nominations

DASSEL, COKATO, MN – It’s safe to say that the Dassel-Cokato fine arts community does not hide its talents under a basket. From instrumentals to theatricals to ceramics, DC has its share of artists, and the school district has come up with a new way of recognizing some of its extraordinary artists: the DC Fine Arts Hall of Fame.

The purpose “is to give [biennial] recognition to those individuals who have exemplified the DC fine arts programs, either while attending, teaching, or volunteering for the DC School District,” according to Fine Arts Hall of Fame Committee member Deb Moen.

These can include contributions to music, theater, or visual arts.

Nominations are due in the DC activities office Friday, June 1.
