Applebee’s of Hutchinson is hosting a flapjack fundraiser for Luke Nelson Saturday, Dec. 14 from 7 to 10 a.m. Pancakes, sausages, eggs, and a beverage will be served. Luke is a Dassel-Cokato football player (#43) who was injured during a football game Sept. 6. He underwent emergency surgery for a brain bleed and is now continuing his recovery at home. Funds raised will support his ongoing therapy and help with medical expenses. Cost of the meal is $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

DASSEL, COKATO, MN – Sign up for Dassel-Cokato youth wrestling will take place Monday, Dec. 2 in the DC High School commons. Registration is encouraged before the mandatory meeting, which will take place at 6 p.m. All are welcome to watch the last 30 minutes of the high school wrestling practice, and DC coaching staff and several wrestlers will present “Wrestling 101″ for parents new to the sport. Youth wrestlers will get T-Shirts and a wrestling poster at the meeting. DASSEL, COKATO, MN – The 2013 Dassel-Cokato Turkey Trot is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 28, and the DC Wrestlers welcome all interested to attend. The best attendance one year was approximately 200 participants, and the wrestlers hope to break that number this year. Walkers will start at 6:30 a.m., and runners at 6:59 a.m. Most runners finish by 7:45 – 8 a.m., and the awards ceremony takes place in the wrestling room. Prizes will be awarded in four divisions: Men’s open, Women’s open, Alumni, and Senior open (50+). Traditionally, everything is done by 9 a.m.
Parking for the event will be by the weight room/pool entrance, and the beginning of the Turkey Trot will be the teacher’s parking lot. There is no fee for the 4.2 mile run, but the team will be accepting free-will donations, along with food donations for local food shelves.
The course will be the same as in years past, heading south from the parking lot to the walking path, and then east 1 mile to Quimby Ave. The course continues north on Quimby approx 1 mile, then west on 40th Street 1 mile. The final stretch is south on Wright County Road 100/Reardon Ave. back to the school. The finish line is the loading dock by the pool entrance.
Wrestlers welcome all of who are up to attend the Turkey Trot early that morning give themselves a reason to have a second piece of pie.
DASSEL, COKATO, MN – In order to bring the Dassel-Cokato School District into compliance with comparable worth laws, the district’s secretaries will be receiving considerable raises in the next two years. The raises range from 2.21 to 8.79 percent in the first year, and 3 to 6.25 percent in the second year, and will go to the activities/facility secretary, the district office secretary, the community education/ECFE secretary, the food service secretary, the special education/curriculum secretary, and the bookkeeper. The building secretaries contract (those who work in the elementary school, middle school, and high school offices) are not included, as their contract has not yet been ratified.
