Unofficial results of Dassel’s special election released

DASSEL, MN – Unofficial results from Dassel’s Aug. 13 special election indicate that both questions on the ballot passed by a wide margin. The questions were as follows:

Shall the City Council of Dassel be authorized to issue private “on-sale” licenses for the sale of intoxicating liquor by restaurants, hotels, and clubs for consumption “on” (at) the restaurant, hotel, or club on Mondays through legal closing time Saturday night (currently 1:00 a.m. Sunday)?

and:

Shall the City Council of Dassel be authorized to issue private “on-sale” licenses for the sale of intoxicating liquor on Sundays by restaurants, hotels, and clubs for consumption “on” (at) the restaurant, hotel, or club?

All results are unofficial until verified by the city council Wed., Aug. 14.

FOCAL used book sale

COKATO, MN – Friends of the Cokato Area Library used book sale will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Library Centennial Room at the Cokato Public Library on Tuesday and Wednesday Aug. 13 and 14.  Hardcovers are $1, paperbacks are 50 cents, and children’s books are 25 cents. Second-day price is $2 per bag. Donations are also being accepted.

Kingston Apostolic Lutheran pastor farewell/welcome event

KINGSTON, MN – A farewell/welcome event to say goodbye to Pastor Orval and Beth, and welcome Pastor Bob and Tricia Turnberg will take place Sunday, August 11 at Kingston Apostolic Lutheran Church. Refreshments will be served from 2 to 4 p.m. and a community hymn sing will take place at Harley and Donna Hendrickson’s at 6:30 p.m.

Antique car run Kingston lunch stop

KINGSTON, MN – There will be an antique car run lunch stop in downtown Kingston Saturday, Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. BBQ, sweet corn, and root beer floats will be served. Presented by the Kingston Lions Club.

Saturday, Aug. 10 is Twine Ball Day in Darwin

DARWIN, MN – The 28th annual Twine Ball celebration will take place Saturday, Aug. 10. Most events will take place near the twine ball or in the park across the street.
