Woman seriously hurt in Wright County crash

According to the Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) it happened just before 8:30 p.m. Sunday, May 8,  on Highway 55 in Rockford.

Thirty-six-year-old Nicole Synstelien of Lake City was taken to North Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Twenty-eight-year-old Garrett Schultz of Brooklyn Center has non-life-threatening injuries and did not go to the hospital.

Litchfield man collides with snow plow in Brandon

BRANDON, MN — A Litchfield man collided with a snow plow while traveling in Douglas County on the morning of Feb. 4., according to the Minnesota State Patrol. An International Snow Plow, driven by 59 year old Jeffrey Owen Holte of Garfield, was eastbound on I-94. A Chevy Impala, driven by 23 year old Zachary Scott Ceasar of Litchfield, was behind the snow plow also going eastbound on the snowy, icy road. The vehicles collided in Brandon at Mile Post 88. Assisting the state patrol on scene were Brandon Fire and North Memorial Ambulance.

Meet the new interim Cokato Elementary Principal

Jerry Hanson was named the interim principal of Cokato Elementary recently, after the surprise resignation of Brian Franklin. Hanson is a seasoned veteran of the education landscape, and was eager to help out the Dassel-Cokato School District.

“I actually retired four years ago from Fargo as a principal,’’ Hanson said with a chuckle. “I’ve got more than 31 years experience as a principal in Minnesota, and in North Dakota.”

Before becoming a principal, Hanson was a teacher in several districts.

City Center Phase II nearing completion

City engineer Josh Halvorson of Bolton & Menk told the Cokato City Council that the City Center Phase II project is right on track to finish before the Friday, Oct. 15 deadline at its meeting Monday night.

“Looking at the project, Linden which is at phase A and B are pretty much substantially complete,” Halvorson said.

Dassel woman tells her Sept. 11 story

With the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001,  the phrase “never forget,” was everywhere. While the national will never forget the tragedy that transpired that day, and the heroic acts of those first responders and everyday citizens, one Dassel woman remembers events of that day a little differently than others.

Alicia (Wiegert) Jolicoeur graduated from Howard Lake Waverly Winsted High School (HLWW) and now lives in Dassel.
