Dassel Council reviews water ordinance; authorizes street sweeper lease option

The Dassel City Council revisited some wording in its water ordinance during its meeting Monday evening.
Ambiguous language in the ordinance ended with the city paying for a large water leak on Hwy. 12 last year.
At that time, the council asked that the city attorney tighten the ordinance’s language to clarify it. Since that time, an election took place, and 50% of the council seats changed membership.
City Clerk/Treasurer Terri Boese brought the proposed ordinance amendment to the council for discussion.
The proposed language said that the owner of the property, which is served by the Dassel public water supply system, is responsible for maintaining the service line from the city water main, including the connection of the service line to the city water, through the corporation-stop through the curb-stop and shut-off valve into the property owner’s building to the water meter. (The italicized words are the proposed change.)

Johnson and Jerde named DC AAA Award winners

Dassel-Cokato High School senior Evan K. Johnson has earned one of the year’s two AAA Awards. Tessa Jerde has earned one of two AAA Awards offered annually by DC High School. AAA stands for academics, arts, and athletics, and a AAA winner must have proficiency in each.

Dassel Fire Dept. honors two, sets officers
