UPDATE: FREE Scheduled Walking Tours at the Wall That Heals Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Winsted

SPONSORED POST – UPDATE: Due to popular demand of the free guided walking tours at the Wall That Heals, coordinators have added additional times and dates to the schedule (see below).

The public of all ages are invited to attend FREE scheduled walking tours at the Wall That Heals Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Winsted at the Winstock Festival Grounds. Guided walking tours will take place with no reservations needed at the following scheduled dates/times:

Thursday, July 28 – 1p, 5p, & 7p
Friday, July 29 – 9a, 10a, 12p, 1:30p, 3p, 5:30p & 7p
Saturday, – 10:30a, 12p, 1:30p, 3p, 5:30p, & 7p
Sunday, – 9:30a & 11a

The Wall That Heals, a 3/4 scale version of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, arrives at the Winstock festival grounds on Tuesday, July 26, with construction and volunteer meeting on Wednesday, July 27, and opens with free admission 24/7 from 2pm Wednesday July 27 through 2 pm Sunday, July 31.

Dassel-Cokato School notice of special election

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a special election has been called and will be held in conjunction with the State Primary Election in and for Independent School District No. 466 (Dassel-Cokato), State of Minnesota, on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, for the purpose of voting on the following question:
School District Question 1
Approval of School District Bond Issue
Shall the school board of Independent School District No. 466 (Dassel-Cokato) also be authorized to issue its general obligation school building bonds in an amount not to exceed $17,900,000 to provide funds for the acquisition and betterment of school sites and facilities, including the acquisition and installation of replacement windows; the replacement of the boiler plant and related piping; ventilation upgrades; construction and site work to connect school facilities to city water; the construction of secure entrances at the high school and related safety improvements; the construction and equipping of new Career and Technical Education classroom additions; the remodeling and expansion of science, agriculture, industrial tech, and FACS classrooms; renovations and improvements to convert existing classroom space to support DCD students; remodeling and upgrades to restrooms; and renovations and improvements to elementary school buildings?
The precincts and polling places and the voting hours at those polling places shall be the same as those for the State Primary Election.
Any eligible voter residing in the School District may vote at said election at the polling place designated above for the precinct in which he or she resides.
A voter must be registered to vote to be eligible to vote in this election. An unregistered individual may register to vote at the combined polling place on election day.

Forsman Farms feedlot permit

Notice is hereby given per Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 116, that Forsman Farms, Inc has made application to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency to modify an existing feedlot permit that includes construction of a new manure storage facility. Animal units will remain the same at 4,608.
The existing feedlot is located in Howard Lake, Minnesota at SW 1/4 of NW 1/4, Section 1, Stockholm Township, Wright County, Minnesota. The facility consists of a capacity of laying hens less than 5 lbs, with a total of 1,536,000 laying hens (4,608 animal units) in total confinement buildings. A manure storage building at 436 feet by 80 feet and a pelletizer building at 30 feet by 106 feet will be added to the farm. The total animal unit capacity will remain at 4,608.
This publication shall constitute as notice to each resident and each owner of real property within 5,000 feet of the perimeter of the proposed feedlot as required by Minnesota State Law.

Meeker County voting accuracy test

Notice of Public Accuracy Test
Notice is hereby given of a public accuracy test to be held on August 3, 2022, at the Meeker County Courthouse, County Commissioner’s meeting room, 325 N. Sibley Avenue, Litchfield beginning at 1:00 p.m. for the purpose of demonstrating the accuracy of the computer programs and equipment to be used at the State Primary Election on August 9, 2022. To be tested includes the ballot scanner, assistive voting ballot marking equipment and electronic roster poll pads.
This demonstration will include an accuracy test on all computer programs and equipment to be used by the election jurisdictions in Meeker County. This test may be viewed by representatives of political parties, candidates, the press and the public.
