Annual township meetings Tuesday, March 13

WRIGHT, MEEKER COUNTIES, MN – People who live in rural areas will have an opportunity to help decide the course of local government Tuesday, March 13. All townships will be conducting annual meetings that evening, and many will be electing officials.

In case of inclement weather, meetings and elections may be postponed until the third Tuesday in March.

Collinwood Township

In Collinwood Township, the supervisor position currently served by  David Prieve is up for election, as well as the clerk position of Larry Ostlund. Both incumbents re-filed.

Voting will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at Collinwood Township Hall, 21904 746th Ave. in Dassel. The annual meeting will follow, after ballots have been counted.

Stockholm Township

Stockholm Township has three positions up for election this year – two supervisor positions and the clerk position. Jody Selseth has re-filed for her position as clerk. The two outgoing supervisors, Keith Evenski and Dave Jorgensen, did not re-file.  Keaton Danielson has filed for one of the supervisor positions.

Voting will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Stockholm Community Center, 16233 Co. Rd. 30 SW in Cokato. The annual meeting will follow at 8:15 p.m.

French Lake Township

In French Lake Township,  the supervisor position currently held by Patrick Lantto is up for election. Lantto re-filed, but his filing did not include a phone number and was therefore invalid. There will be a write-in election.

Voting will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at French Lake Township Hall, 3133 Co. Rd. 3 NW in Annandale. The annual meeting will follow at 8:15 p.m.

Dassel Township

Positions up for election in Dassel Township include that of Clerk Karin Colberg, as well as Supervisor Kevin Rossow. Both incumbents re-filed.

Voting will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dassel History Center, 901 1st St. N. in Dassel. The annual meeting will follow at 8:15 p.m.

Ellsworth Township

In Ellsworth Township, the supervisor position currently served by David Jutz is open, as well as the clerk position of Tom Hauer. Lori Johnson filed for the clerk position, and Jutz re-filed for the supervisor position.

Voting will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ellsworth Township Hall, located along Meeker Co. Rd. 9. in Darwin. The annual meeting will follow at 8:15 p.m.

The township office will be open Saturday, March 10 from 10 a.m. to noon for absentee voting. People can also get an absentee ballot by calling Hauer at (320) 420-9956, emailing him at tompathauer@mchsi.com, or stopping by his residence at 68166 215th St. on the south side of Lake Washington.

Kingston Township

In Kingston Township, the supervisor position of Robert Christofferson is up for election, as well as the clerk position of Gail Schiefelbein. Both incumbents re-filed.

Voting will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Kingston Community Center, 30840 722nd Ave. in Dassel (Kingston). The annual meeting will follow at 8:30 p.m.

Cokato Township

Cokato Township has three positions up for election, including the one-year supervisor position of Dan Bravinder, the three-year supervisor position of Dean Mahlstedt, and the two-year clerk position of Brad Morris. All incumbents re-filed.

Voting will take place from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Cokato Township Hall, 14987 30th Street SW. in Cokato. The annual meeting will follow after the polls close.

Darwin Township

Elections will take place in the fall. Annual meeting information has not yet been submitted.
