Cooks, volunteers sought for chili cook-off Oct. 29

DASSEL, MN – The Dassel Chamber of Commerce is planning a chili cook-off for Saturday, Oct. 29 to raise money for city park improvements. The event will take place at Bandstand Park on Atlantic Avenue in Dassel.

Kristen Humber to speak at Dassel Covenant Sat.

DASSEL, MN – Dassel Covenant Women’s Ministries will meet Saturday, Oct. 1 at 9:30 a.m. Kristen (Onnen) Humber will be the guest speaker.
She will share some of her experiences dining in the Republic of Congo as a Wycliffe Bible translator.
The public is welcome.

Driver falls asleep and crashes into a house on Highway 12 in Dassel

crash.dassel.housedassel.house.crashDASSEL, MN – Aron and Jena Levandowski received a rude awakening Friday morning at 2:02 a.m. when a pickup truck crashed into their house.

Dean Redinger, 18, of Marengo, WI was passing through Dassel on his way to a wedding in South Dakota when he fell asleep at the wheel of a 2003 GMC Sierra, crashing into the house at 510 Parker Avenue West (Highway 12) in Dassel, according to the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.

Redinger had two teenage passengers with him in the truck at the time of the crash. No one in the house or the vehicle were injured, and no drugs or alcohol were involved.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, Dassel Fire and Rescue, and Gold Cross Ambulance all responded to the scene. The accident is under investigation by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.

Dassel featured on ‘Land of 10,000 Stories’

DASSEL, MN – In case you missed it, KARE 11’s Land of 10,000 Stories featured a local story of a man who committed suicide 100 years ago who finally received a monument at his grave site in Steelesville Cemetery, south of Dassel. To watch the Sept. 27 KARE 11 segment click here.
