Nominations sought for farm family of the year

MEEKER, MCLEOD, MN –Both McLeod County and Meeker County have many outstanding farm families who make positive contributions to the economic and cultural environment, while receiving little or no recognition. Nominations are being accepted for Farm Family of the Year.

For many years, the Farm Family Recognition program has been an important event in many counties. This year there will be two recognition opportunities - at the local and state level. County recognition is typically done at an event where they are surrounded by their peers. The state-wide recognition event will be held in conjunction with Farmfest - August 2nd through the 4th.

Farm Families should be a Minnesota food producer actively involved in agricultural production with one or more agricultural enterprises. Those nominated should be producers that have made significant short-term progress and/or innovative contributions with their agricultural endeavors. The farm family should also not have been previously recognized by the Farm Family Program.

For more information, contact your County Extension Office. In Meeker County, call 693-5275, and in McLeod County, call 587-0770.
