Cokato Community Chest drive begins Oct. 12

COKATO, MN - The annual Cokato Community Chest fund drive will begin Monday, Oct. 12.
Because of the annual Community Chest drive in Cokato, there are no door-to-door solicitations. Funds collected in this drive are divided among local, regional, and state organizations. In 2008, $11,125 was divided among 31 organizations.
Donations may be left with a neighbor, if you are not going to be home or send it to Cokato Community Chest, PO 698, Cokato, MN 55321. Volunteers to help canvas are welcome. Call (320) 286-5827 or 286-5029.

Mystery Photo of the Week for Sept. 28

myst-edMYSTERY, MN – The Enterprise Dispatch web site is hosting a weekly Internet mystery photo contest in which a photo is taken of something in the area.
Anyone who correctly guesses the identity of the photo is added to a monthly drawing for a free subscription to the newspaper.

Go ahead and guess! Those who guess correctly first receive bragging rights.
Answers may be e-mailed to Lynda Jensen at news@heraldjournal.com or sent by mail. No phone calls, please.

We’ll publish the correct answer – and the name of the person who first identifies the mystery photo – in next week’s Enterprise Dispatch.

What’s going on at the Mushroom Building?

musDASSEL, MN — The Mushroom Building features a bit of construction that is designed to help advertise the new Smithsonian program “Between Fences,” being featured later this month at the Dassel Museum, according to Carlyn Holje of the museum.

The activity around the Mushroom Building will be completed soon. The program will begin Oct. 24 at the Dassel Museum, and involve many levels and many different groups of people, including hundreds of school children. “It is an honor to be chosen,” Holje commented.

Fall colors are turning on the Arrowhead

DULUTH, MN –  The fall colors on the Iron Range are at 25-50% as of September 25th. This year the pallet of color promises to be a breathtaking display as Mother Nature has been generous with the perfect weather. Cokato Dassel Rotary hosts annual golf scramble and Octoberfest

DASSEL-COKATO, MN - For the first year ever, the Cokato Dassel Rotary Club is combining its annual golf tournament with an Octoberfest celebration that includes a beer tasting and steak dinner set for Friday, Oct. 2.

Registration begins at 3 p.m. at Cokato Town and Country Club for teams of four. Golfing begins at 3:30 p.m., dinner at 6 p.m. with the beer tasting following at 7 p.m.

To participate in all of the activities, the cost is $50, which includes 9 holes of golf, meal and tasting. The public is also invited to attend the beer tasting at a cost of $10. Advanced tickets can be purchased at Wells Fargo in Dassel and the Enterprise Dispatch in Cokato.

100 percent of the proceeds will go toward community youth projects such as the STRIVE mentorship program.
