Three Tiger Scouts from Pack 354 visited the Cokato office of the Enterprise Dispatch this evening. They are Zachary Okerman, Jake Welter and Alex Sykora of Annandale.
The boys took a tour of the offices, learned how a newspaper gathers news, heard about police scanners and digital cameras, and then were videotaped with a short video clip (see below).
Navy Seaman Recruit Shoua Yang, nephew of Yeng Vang of Darwin, recently completed US Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, IL. Shoua is a 2007 graduate of North High School of Sheboygan, WI. During the eight-week program, Yang completed a variety of training, which included classroom study and practical instruction on Naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was placed on physical fitness.
Local residents belonging to Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association (WH) demonstrated their commitment to helping others when their most recent Operation Round Up (ORU) donation of $37,133 was used to support many local charities and worthy causes. Several students from the area are fall semester 2008 graduates and will be honored at ceremonies Thursday, May 14 for the Hutchinson campus Friday, May 15 at the Willmar campus. Students graduating from the Hutchinson campus include Kelsey Anderson, Dennis Johnson, Cassie Peterson, and Kristofor Tanner, all of Dassel. Students graduating from
the Willmar campus include Patricia Fasching, Melissa Nemitz, and Mary Vorwerk, all of Dassel.
Amanda Evenski of Cokato earned a bachelor of science degree from theUniversity of Wisconsin in Superior, WI. Degrees were conferred in December 2008, following the end of the fall semester.
Kayla Grack, daughter of Mike and Lisa Grack of Cokato, was recently awarded the President’s Scholarship in the amount of $12,500 from the College of St. Benedict in St. Joseph in recognition of her academic and extracurricular achievements. The scholarship is renewable each year (for a total of eight semesters) that she remains enrolled full time at the college.
COKATO, MN – The Cokato Expo attracted fair-sized crowds, with the Cokato Lions serving about 300 during the free pancake dinner today (Feb. 21). The breakfast was courtesy of Excel Energy, the Cokato Chamber of Commerce, and Forsman Foods. Many prizes were drawn throughout the morning, and K&K Fun Time and Party Rental had a giant inflatable bouncer available for younger children. A slide show is below (please wait a moment to load):
