Mystery Photo for the week of Dec. 29

mysteryweb14The Enterprise Dispatch web site is hosting a weekly Internet Mystery Photo taken in the Dassel, Darwin, Cokato, or Kingston area. Those who correctly guess the identity of the photo will be added to a monthly drawing for a free subscription to the newspaper. Bev Bipes was the winner for the November drawing. The first person to correctly guess the Mystery Photo for the week of Dec. 22 of the sign for the Country Gallery Photography Studio in Kingston was Robin Kelly of Dassel. Answers may be typed directly online by leaving a comment (though “closed” so answers cannot be viewed by other guessers) at this site or e-mailed to Kristen Miller at kmiller@heraldjournal.com.

Early copy needed this week for the newspaper

Due to the holiday press schedule, early newspaper copy is needed for the edition of Monday, Jan. 5. Therefore, copy is due by noon Wednesday, Dec. 31. The newspaper office will be closed New Year’s Day.

DAHS to host New Year’s Eve party

During New Year’s Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 31, there will be a Bunco Bash at Universal Laboratories (Dassel museum), located at 901 First St., beginning at 9 p.m. The Dassel Historical Society will toast the new year with punch, a hors d’oeuvre table, fun games, and prizes.

Attention college-bound students, register for ACT exam by Jan. 6

The next ACT achievement test will be administered Saturday, Feb. 7.
Students who wish to take the college admission and placement exam must register by Tuesday, Jan. 6.

Switch to digital will impact DC television sets

Television sets that are in Howard Lake, Waverly, Winsted, Montrose, Lester Prairie, Watertown, Mayer, and New Germany will be affected by the switch from an analog to digital signal in February.

Television sets that use rabbit ears will require an adapter that costs about $60.  The government is offering $40 coupons that will defray this cost.  You may apply for up to two (2) coupons on the following web site: www.dtv2009.gov. Wright Co. bird count Jan. 3

Birders and nature enthusiasts in northern Wright County are welcome to take part in Audubon’s annual bird count Saturday, Jan. 3.
