Roundabouts: good for catching criminals?

Two convicted felons from Montana were arrested in Hutchinson Oct. 27 after they had a fairly minor one-vehicle crash in the roundabout on Highway 15 North, according to KDUZ Radio.

A 33-year-old man and 31-year-old woman, both from Butte, MT, were arrested and taken to the McLeod County Jail. Authorities said they were alerted to the incident after witnesses reported seeing the Jeep Cherokee go through the middle of the roundabout, hit a light pole, and then continue through a ditch. Coleman to visit Hutch today

Sen. Norm Coleman will make a stop at the Coffee Company in Hutchinson at 4 p.m., his spokesman said.  The location is south of down on Highway 15,  near the shopping mall  (the downtown shop closed months ago).

Stylists show styles from different time periods

COKATO, MN – Stylists at Broadway Hair Fashions of Cokato dressed up in clothing, make up and hairstyles evocative of different periods of time for Halloween. Jody Danielson  was a 1920 Flapper. Brenda Kotila represented the 1950s. Michelle Davidson represented the 1980s. Shauna Rien was Marilyn Monroe in the President John F. Kennedy era of the early 1960s.

Spring Lake park closed for grass seeding

DASSEL, MN – Spring Lake Park in Meeker County is closed for the 2008-09 winter and spring to protect the newly seeded grass.
No snowboarding or sledding is allowed in the park.

Winter’s onset is soon

COKATO, MN – These scarlet leaves clung mainly to the south side of a tree Wednesday at 700 Johnson Ave. SW in Cokato. They signaled the end of the fall color. A few hundred yards down the street, ice crusted a puddle of water in a driveway.

Guest artists from Kansas will perform at Crown College Nov. 1

ST. BONIFACIUS, MN – The Crown Brass, Chamber Orchestra, Flute Choir and Men’s Choir had an Ensemble Recital in the Crown College chapel Tuesday, Oct.  28. Each group presented musical selections.
Guest artists Dr. Brad Nix and Dr. David Settle, each from Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas will be in concert Saturday, Nov. 1, on the main campus starting at 7 p.m.
Dr. Nix earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in piano performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He is an active recitalist, pedagogue, and freelance pianist, and was recently the featured guest artist and clinician at the 2008 Northeastern State University High School Piano Festival and Competition in Tahlequah, OK.
