Show visitors DC’s rich history

Now that the foundation is completed on the Gust Akerlund Studio, it is once again open for visitors. If anyone is expecting any out-of-town visitors and is looking for something inexpensive to do, always remember our local historical societies and museums. There are a lot of interesting things to be seen and explored right here in DC.

Kingston Kings possible move to Cokato, yea or nay?

Discussion is taking place regarding the possible move of the Kingston Kings from Kingston to Cokato’s Veteran’s Park. The park would need some upgrading to be able to accommodate adult men’s baseball including water. What are the thoughts regarding this possible move?

Piano concert set Sunday - Mark Ochu’s students

33rd Annual Spring Piano Concert

Mark Ochu and his students will be presenting their 33rd annual piano recital on Sunday, June 29, 2007 at 7:00 pm. The concert will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Howard Lake.

Students performing in this year’s program include: Seth Bravinder, Anna and Emily Neighbors and Hayden Simonson from Cokato and Samuel and Bethany Rydberg and Tyson Laakkonen from Dassell.

The works of Bach, Mozart, Chopin, and Brahms will be featured and along with familiar popular music. This year Ochu will again perform Chopin.

The public is cordially invited to attend. A reception will follow the concert.

Pregnancy pact - not an issue of sex education

How sad is it that teenage girls have to get pregnant to feel loved? Some people would say the 17 teenage girls who allegedly made a pact to all get pregnant, could’ve been prevented with better sex education or the availability of birth control. Um, these girls seem to know enough about sex and they obviously didn’t want to use birth control since the whole objective was to get pregnant in the first place.
