Stupid criminals in Minnesota

Yes, we have our fair share of stupid criminals around these parts. For example, a 58-year-old Chisolm man was going through court for assault recently in St. Louis County when he decided to beat up his lawyer in front of the judge and courtroom, according to the Pioneer Press. He asked for a new attorney, and the judge refused because he already beat up the one he had (headlock, punches in fact and blood all over — yes, he beat him up).  Continue reading ‘Stupid criminals in Minnesota’

The war on weeds to begin in Wright Co.

Beginning June 9, the Wright County Highway Department, as part of its vegetation management program, will be scheduling some roadside vegetation work along all Wright County highways. Lost parrot returned after reciting its address

Police rescued the African grey parrot two weeks ago from a neighbor’s roof in the city of Nagareyama, near Tokyo, Japan. After spending a night at the station, he was transferred to a nearby veterinary hospital while police searched for clues, local policeman Shinjiro Uemura said. Help name the 12 new wolf pups

Do you want to help name 12 wolf puppies born recently? KARE 11 news is hosting a “Name the Pups” contest for the pups who were born on the grounds of the Carlos Avery Wildlife Management Area. April 27.

Between now and May 23rd, email your ideas for possible pup names: wolfpups@kare11.com. You can help name these male pups. Contest officials will narrow the list down and kare11.com will post a poll May 26-June 9 for you to vote again for the final selections.

Two of the pups (both males) were moved to the International Wolf Center May 9. The others will remain at the Wildlife Science Center. All will be available for public viewing this summer. The mother is a gray wolf, Macy, who gave birth to the litter. She is the daughter of a gray wolf from Yellowstone National Park.

Freezing your credit? Perhaps

Here are some interesting thoughts from Rosemary Heins of the University of Minnesota Extension Service.

Recent federal laws and Minnesota state laws help citizens protect themselves from new account fraud by allowing ‘freezing.’ The laws empower any consumer to freeze their credit report by contacting any of the three major credit reporting agencies and requesting a credit report freeze. This action will deny potential thieves access to the credit history and prevent them from opening new credit cards or loans in the consumer’s name. Continue reading ‘Freezing your credit? Perhaps’
