NASCAR The tumble and flip of it all…..

Greetings NASCAR fans!

Texas speedway had a good race on Sunday. With the longer intermediate length track, the drivers have more room to get their speed up before racing into each turn unlike the short tracks where there is as much braking as going. Continue reading ‘NASCAR The tumble and flip of it all…..’

So true — you can kill the dreamer, but not the dream

Forty years ago, I was two days old. Of course, I have no direct memories of Dr. Martin Luther King, the Baptist pastor who accomplished so much through peaceful means during turbulent times for our country. But as was said tonight during an interview with one of Dr. King’s friends “You can kill the dreamer, but you can’t kill the dream.” Let that be so.

Here are some quotes from Dr. King worth repeating:
A riot is at bottom the language of the unheard.
“A nation or civilization that continues to produce soft-minded men purchases its own spiritual death on the installment plan.
A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual doom.”

The unexpected passing of Barb Kliewer

barb-kliewerweb.jpgProminent Cokato business owner Barb Kliewer, only 54 years old, died unexpectedly Wednesday, after suffering a stroke Friday, March 28. As most of you know, she is the wife of Paul Kliewer, who used to work as the athletic director at Dassel-Cokato Schools for many years. The Kliewers used to own the Grounds coffee shop in Cokato (which they started up), and are associated with ownership in three Subway sandwich shops in Cokato, Delano and Winsted (the latter of which they sold a few years ago). Barb Kliewer also operated Barbereze Hair Salon in Cokato as well. The funeral service will be Wednesday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at Living Word Christian Center in Brooklyn Park. Our condolences go out to the family.

Now cell phones are going to kill us

Just heard that more people will die from cell phones than cigarettes and asbestos. What next? What can humans do that won’t kill us these days? We might as well crawl away into a cave, but I’m sure there would be something there that could kill us too like mold or falling stalactites.
