Delano seniors Edward Hajas was named to the Minnesota Wrestling Coaches Association Academic All-State Team. He is one of 28 student-athletes who was named this year.
“Edward is an outstanding leader and teammate in our program,” said Delano wrestling coach Jeff Olson. “He is a near-perfect representation of what a student-athlete should be — someone who pursues and commits themselves to excellence in the academic classroom as well as their athletics and activities.”
To earn a spot as an academic all-state wrestler, one must meet a certain criteria. That criteria uses a points system to calculate the combination of a wrestler’s GPA, number of career varsity matches, career winning percentage, state individual participation, and state placement.
Hajas is the fifth Delano wrestler to earn the honor. The others were Reier Sjomeling (2018), Tucker Sjomeling (2017, 2016), Kevin Kneisl (2016) and Cody Socher (2008).
