LITCHFIELD – The Charger boys cross country team continued their strong showing in the 2021 season, winning the 14-team Litchfield Invite.
Sophomore Soren Bortnem finished second with a time of 16:37, 19 seconds behind the winner Sal Wirth of Annandale.
His brother Charlie Bortnem, an eighth-grader, was the next-highest finisher for DC, placing fifth with a time of 16:56. It was the first time he eclipsed the 17-minute mark this season.
Haydn Veith finished 7th (17:03), Soren Olsen 17th (17:50), and Ryan Johnson 20th (17:56) to round out the scoring.
Dylan Seaberg finished 32nd with a time of 18:37, with Nic Johnson right behind him at 18:38.
Kate Jenkins was the top finisher for the girls, finishing in 14th place. The Charger girls finished 11th of 14 teams.
