DC ED Sports Preview, Week of May 22


The following is a preview of the Enterprise Dispatch sports section for Monday, May 22.

• The DC softball team went 2-3 over five games, hitting seven home runs over that span. The team will begin playoffs on Tuesday, May 23, with the brackets announced Sunday, May 21.

• Peter Asplin won three WCC West Conference Championship events – the 110m hurdles, the 300m hurdles, and the long jump – while the girls 4×200 relay team also finished in first place.

• After finishing in second place through numerous meets during the year, the DC boys golf team finally took first, winning the New London-Spicer Invitational.

• Laura Harmala continued her strong play of late to finish in the top-10 in two recent girls golf meets.

• The DC baseball team fell in back-to-back games to Litchfield, 7-5 and 4-0.

• The Cokato Kernels dominated Montrose-Waverly by a score of 16-2.

• The DC Saints gave up five runs in the second inning, and fell 8-4 to the Glencoe Brewers.
