Cuts approved at HLWW

HOWARD LAKE, WAVERLY, WINSTED, MN – On a split vote Monday evening, the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted-School Board approved reductions for the 2018-19 school year.

The total to be reduced is $309,291 in the general fund and $77,240 in capital expenses.

Board members Jamie Wiech, Dwayne Diers, Lacy Detlefsen, Paul Bravinder, Michelle Heuer, and Joanie Lasiuk voted in favor, and Board Member Charles Bush was opposed.

“The last thing we want to do is to cut staff or programs,” Superintendent Brad Sellner noted. “We feel this budget spending adjustment for next year will help us build up the fund balance to back within policy guidelines, while impacting students and programs the least.”
