County accepts Legacy grant – Dakota Rail Regional Trail project will move forward

McLEOD COUNTY, MN – The McLeod County Board approved an agreement with the State of Minnesota through the Department of Natural Resources Nov. 7.
The board accepted a grant for the development of the Dakota Rail Regional Trail using Legacy funds, which will extend the paved portion of the Dakota trail that starts at the Carver County Line through the City of Lester Prairie, ending at County Road 1.
The project will use $647,000 Legacy funds, a $33,000 local match from the City of Hutchinson and McLeod County for in-kind engineering services for a total grant of $680,000. The project is expected to be completed by June 30, 2020.
