The City of Mayer released a statement late Tuesday indicating that it had been the victim of external fraud that amounted to nearly $430,000 in city funds being lost.
In its statement, the city said it recently confirmed exposure to a financial fraud scheme perpetrated by outside agents impersonating as employees of a financial firm that works with the city.
