Child on bike ride hit by vehicle in Victoria

An 8-year-old girl on a family bike ride was struck by a vehicle the evening of Sunday, May 29 in Victoria.

A report by the Carver County Sheriff’s Office said that, at 4:57 p.m., a family was riding bikes on the Lake Minnetonka Regional Trail when they attempted to cross Rolling Acres Road.

Authorities say that an 87-year-old motorist failed to stop for flashing beacons activated at the crossing and struck the girl.

The victim was taken to Children’s Hospital and reported to be in stable condition.

The incident is under investigation, and authorities say that the motorist is cooperating.
