Charger softball drops two at home

The DC softball team dropped two home games in recent action, falling to Glencoe-Silver Lake 9-1 Thursday, and losing to Zimmerman 6-4 Friday.

Against GSL, Charger defense committed a season-high 11 errors. All nine runs charged to DC pitcher Amy Kivisto were unearned.

While DC touched up GSL pitcher Brianna Wraspir for nine hits, they could only push one run across, leaving eight runners stranded. Wraspir did not walk a batter, and struck out 16.

Against Zimmerman, the Thunder scored five runs in the second inning to take a 6-0 lead, and held on for a 6-4 victory at DC Friday.

All six Zimmerman runs were charged to starting pitcher Abby Schrupp, who pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and one walk, while striking out two. Five of the runs were earned.

Kivisto pitched 5 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, giving up two hits and one walk, while striking out five.

DC committed just one error in the game.

DC actually outhit the Thunder 11-9 in the game, with each starter collecting at least one hit.
