Note to Senior Parents: Please call or email me the amount of scholarships that your student has been granted thru the colleges that they applied to and also the one they have chosen. The junior leader group invites all students to take a survey on moodle concerning a breakfast bar. Please complete the survey as soon as possible.

This Sunday, May 20 at 2:00 PM, the Awards Assembly will be held at MLHS. Letters were sent out to families whose students will be receiving an award. Awards and certificates will be presented for General Scholarship, Service, NHS, Christian Leadership, Athletics, Music, Drama and for other achievements. Everyone is welcome to attend this special program.

Monday, May 21 – The Sacred Music Concert/Fine Arts Exhibit will be held at MLHS at 7:00 PM. Plan to attend the special concert.

LHS will be hosting the 2nd Annual Hoop It Up For AL!, a 3 on 3 Basket Ball Tournament June 30. We are in need of some good portable hoops to use this year. If you have one available, would you contact, Korinne Kramer @ 612-242-8332 or HoopItUpForAL@gmail.com.

There are a couple of seniors who still need a cap and gown for graduation. Please stop in the office and see Paulette to get one.

Lester Prairie High School bulletin Monday, May 14

LESTER PRAIRIE, MN – Lester Prairie School Bulletin
May 14, 2012

On June 1 the Lester Prairie schools will be moving all school room items into the gymnasium so that our
school project may begin June 4.  I am looking for students in grades 7-12 who will be willing to come to the
school that morning at 8am to help move.  There is a sign up in the office.  Please make sure that when you sign
up you will be here.  Lunch will be provided.  Thank you for helping make Lester Prairie a great school.

Due to the Lester Prairie School project, there will NOT be school on Thursday, May 31 for all grades.
Graduation practice and the senior class plans are still in place for this day.  I am sending out this notice 3-
weeks ahead so families can make plans for the students.

All band students will have a rehearsal on Monday May 14th in the gym for their upcoming concert from 205-
220. Please release 6-8th band students at 2pm. 9-12th grade should be back to class as close to 220 as possible.

Anyone in grades 5-11 interested in being on the student council for the 2012-2013 school year needs to pick up
an application in the office.  Applications are due to Mrs. Buckentin by Tuesday, May 15th by 3:30 p.m.  Any
current student council members (grades 8-11) interested in becoming an officer, see Mrs. Buckentin for details.

TRAP TEAM MEMBERS:  Pick up a letter and permission slip for the State Shoot by Mr. Bjork’s door.  This
needs to be returned by Tuesday, May 15th.

Elementary Basketball Camp Form for next year’s 1st through 6th graders (Boys and Girls) was sent home with
the students.  The camp will be held June 11-14.  The camp will be held at Holy Trinity Gym due to remodeling
at LP Schools.

Basketball Players Grades 7-12 (boys and girls):  The Mini Camp Forms and Bulldog Breakfast Club forms are
in the LP School Office for you to pick up.  Work on your basketball skills this summer.  All camps will be held
at Holy Trinity Gym due to remodeling in LP Schools this summer.

The spring band concert will be on Tuesday, May 15th at 7:30pm. It will feature the 5th grade band, junior high,
senior high, jazz band, and drumline.

After-Prom video forms may still be turned in.  Please turn them in ASAP.

Since the weather is getting nicer and we are looking forward to wearing our summer outfits, it is a good time to
remind everyone about appropriate dress for school.  The following items are not permitted to be worn at
school:  Short-shorts, spaghetti straps, short skirts, muscle shirts, no underwear showing.  Please be respectful to
others and dress appropriately.

The Lester Prairie Police Department will be conducting a Bike Rodeo on May 24th, 2012 at 3:30 PM.  The
Bike Rodeo will be located at the Lester Prairie High School.  Students will receive a brief informative speech
about bike safety and will have the opportunity to show case their abilities on the course.  All participants must
wear shoes and helmets for the course.  There will also be a drawing for 2 Bikes and Ice Cream will be
provided.  Students are asked to sign up at the Lester Prairie High School.  Hope to see you at the rodeo!

The Lester Prairie AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY will be in school Friday AM, May 18, 2012 to
distribute the familiar red, handcrafted poppies.  It is a way for everyone to honor our Veterans who have served
and died for the American ideals of freedom, justice and equality.  All donation received will be used for
Veterans programs.

Students who have obtained their driving instruction permit need to see Mr. Bjork to get on the Behind The
Wheel schedule.

Reminder – No student is permitted to ride in a vehicle between 8:15 am – 3:15 pm without permission from the
office.  This permission slip will be kept on file.

Driver’s Education students:  For those that signed up for the June class if you want to purchase a printed copy
of the Minnesota Driver’s Manual, you  need to bring Mr. Bjork an additional $8.00.  Many of you already paid
for one but some missed that in the registration form.  You need to either purchase a book from me or print out
the PDF file from the Dept. of Public Safety website.  See Mr. Bjork if you have questions.

Seniors:  If you are going to be visiting colleges, please be sure to fill out the College Visit Form from Mrs.
Mattson at least two days prior to your visit.  Thank you!

Detention will be with Mrs. DeBruyckere the week of May 14th.

Homework Help is available for grades 2-12 in the media center from 3-4 p.m. on Tues., Wed., and Thurs.

Please do not use the gym from 6-8 am on Wednesday mornings. Thanks!

Today at 12:30 we will have a short assembly in the gym for the student council candidates to address the student body. We have two running for the seat of student council president and two running for vice president so these 4 students will be giving short speeches on their thoughts about student council and why you should vote for them. Voting will take place tomorrow during religion classes.
