There will be a Valentine’s breakfast buffet Sunday, Feb. 12, 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Howard Lake Lions Club, Lions Hall, 625 8th St., Howard Lake. Enjoy a delicious meal of pancakes, french toast, sausage, scrambled eggs, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, coffee, juice and milk. Take your sweetheart out for breakfast. Everyone is welcome to attend. Free will donation. Proceeds to benefit local Lions projects.

Community pancake breakfast Sunday, Feb. 12
The Lester Prairie Lions will serve a pancake breakfast Sun., Feb. 12 at the Lester Prairie City Hall, 9 am-noon. Serving pancakes, eggs, sausage, toast, juice and coffee. The proceeds will support other Lester Prairie projects. We will be collecting old eyeglasses and hearing aids, use our drop box located in front of the Lester Prairie Post Office. Free will offering. Please come, enjoy and support.
Glencoe Knights of Columbus fish fry Friday, Feb. 10
Glencoe Knights of Columbus 43rd annual fish fry will take place at Pla-Mor Ballroom, Glencoe, Friday, Feb. 10, dine-in all you can eat or drive-thru from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., or until fish is gone. Adults $15, 10 and under $8, drive-thru $15. Includes fish, scalloped potatoes, baked beans and coleslaw.
Area children’s authors in Winsted Saturday, Jan. 21
Come meet two children’s book authors and Glencoe natives, Rhonda Buerkle and Luke Walford, 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Winsted Arts Council building. This fun and free event will be geared toward children and adults.
With the help of visual aids, Buerkle and Walford will present the process of how and why they write children’s books. They will also read excerpts from their stories, sign copies, and chat with book lovers.
Woofy Toofy, Woofy’s Big Adventure, and Woofy at the Farm are among the books Buerkle has written. Buerkle is also a professional grant writer and former director of McLeod Alliance.
Walford has penned Ollie’s Snowy Day and Pickles, Pickles Everywhere. An Air Force veteran, Walford is the owner of Sublime Lawn and Gardens in Chaska and has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sister for a decade. The Winsted Arts Council is hosting the event.
Chili dinner fundraiser Saturday, Jan. 14
The 1st annual Taddy Drusch Memorial Scholarship fundraiser will be Saturday, Jan. 14 from 4 – 6 p.m. at the South Shore Event Center, 733 6th St., Howard Lake, MN, (2nd level). Come enjoy a delicious bowl of chili with all the fixings, bread and dessert. (North Fork has donated the hamburger for your chili).
Milk, water and coffee will be served with the meal and Howard Lake Wine & Spirits will be on-site selling liquor, with a portion of the proceeds being donated to the scholarship fund.
Advanced tickets can be purchased at Joe’s Sport Shop, Howard Lake. Advanced tickets $10, at the door $12, kids 10 and under $6. Our goal is to award two HLWW students scholarships each year. If you are unable to attend, but wish to donate, contact Julie Drusch at jdrusch2014@gmail.com.

Pancakes, (regular and blueberry), french toast, sausage, eggs, coffee, milk and juice will be served. Takeout available. There will be a free will offering at the door. Proceeds donated to KC Hall maintenance.
