Winsted choir forming for 125th

In collaboration with Winsted’s 125 anniversary, a community choir is being formed to participate in the festivities. This choir will begin weekly rehearsals in late April, with a performance during the week of the Winsted Summer Festival.
Anyone interested and all skill levels welcome.

Breakfast buffet in HL Sunday

The Howard Lake Lions will host a freewill donation breakfast buffet Sunday, Feb. 12 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lions Hall, 625 8th St., Howard Lake. The buffet will include scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, french toast, biscuits and gravy, milk, juice, and coffee.

Spaghetti dinner at St. Paul’s Sun.

The youth group at St. Paul Lutheran Church will host a spaghetti dinner Sunday, Feb. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Tickets are $7; children age 5 and under are free. Proceeds will benefit the youth mission trip to Sawyer Air Force Base in Gwinn, MI.

Open house at Zion Lutheran, Mayer

LP Lions pancake breakfast Sunday

Lester Prairie Lions will serve a pancake breakfast Sunday, Feb. 5 at Lester Prairie City Hall from 9 a.m. to noon.
Proceeds will go to support community projects. Tickets are $6 for ages 13 and older, $4 for ages 6-12, and ages 5 and under are free.
The menu includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, toast, juice, and coffee.

Girl Scouts plan food, book drive

Girl Scouts Troop 34045 of Winsted, Howard Lake, and Waverly (second graders) will conduct a food and gently used children’s book drive Jan. 23 to Feb. 20.
Drop-off locations are NAPA, Bryan’s Service Station, Duran’s Photography, and the public library in Winsted; Joe’s Sport Shop and Emmy’s Salon in Howard Lake; and Adjust to Wellness and Mark’s Service in Waverly.
Donations may also be left with troop leader Lisa Baumann, (320) 485-7476.

Food packaging event to take place in LP Jan. 25

LESTER PRAIRIE, MN – A Food For Kids packaging drive will take place at Lester Prairie City Hall Wednesday, Jan. 25. Volunteers are needed from 1:30 to 4 p.m.
All donations go toward the cost of the food. Packaged meals include rice, protein mix, dried vegetables, and a vitamin/mineral mix at a cost of 15 cents per meal.
Last year, more than 55,000 meals were packaged in Lester Prairie and $9,400 was raised. The goal is to package another 50,000 meals this year.

Chili feed Jan. 21 in Winsted

Lake Mary VFW 9232 and Auxiliary will host a chili feed Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Winsted American Legion from 4 to 7 p.m.
Menu includes chili, homemade corn bread muffins with honey butter, garlic bread, veggies and dip, and homemade desserts.
Advance tickets are $8, or $9 at the door. Tickets for children ages 6 to 10 are $5. Advance tickets are available from Rhonda Decker, Mary Quast, or Amy Gatz at Flagship Bank Winsted.

Family skating party Jan. 14 in Winsted

WHAT UP will host a family ice skating party on Winsted Lake at Mill Reserve Park Saturday, Jan. 14 at 1 p.m. Hot chocolate and apple cider will be available. This is a free family event and children must be accompanied by an adult to attend.

Event planned for girls in Howard Lake

Howard Lake Royalty program will host a “princess for a day” event for girls k-4 Saturday, Feb. 4 from 1:30 to 5 p.m.
The event includes games, crafts, tea, royal photo shoot, princess beauty shop, and a runway show. Cost is $25.
