WATERTOWN, MN – Xavier Jamieson and Montgomery Jamieson of Watertown found the Golden Spike this morning (July 20) near Field No. 2 in Evergreen Park. They will receive $300 in Caleb’s Cash, which is redeemable at many Watertown Chamber businesses.

The Golden Spike contest is part of Watertown’s annual Rails to Trails celebration. To learn more, go to www.railstotrails.ws.

WATERTOWN, MN – The Golden Spike contest for Rails to Trails has started in Watertown. According to the Rails to Trails website, the Golden Spike is hidden on public property within the city limits of Watertown.

7/19/2011 – Clue No. 3 You can lead a Horse to the water, but you can’t get it to drink. Watertown is known for its Parks, Trails and Playgrounds. Can’t find the Spike? WELL you’re not the only one. Make a rush to the brush.

7/18/2011 – Clue No. 2 Watertown is a great little city with the Rails to Trails celebration. The sun will come up on the Golden Spike. Watertown is in the Land of Lakes, the Crow River and is near a large great city.

7/18/2011 – Clue No. 1 The Golden Spike is a recreational pursuit Caleb’s Cash is your reward (300.00) Make Lemonade out of Lemons Fame will be your reward

Clues will also appear each day in local businesses, on the city of Watertown website (www.ci.watertown.mn.us), on cable TV Channel 12, and on the Rails to Trails website (www.railstotrails.ws).

The person who finds the Golden Spike should take it to city hall between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for verification. Whoever finds the Golden Spike will receive $300 in Caleb’s Cash, which is redeemable at many Watertown Chamber businesses.

WATERTOWN, MN – The Watertown Rails to Trails golden spike contest has two winners this year.

Bren Fredrickson and Andy Kuhnau found the golden spike in Kings Highland in Watertown Thursday, July 22.

The prize for finding the spike was $300 in Caleb’s Cash, which can be used at stores in Watertown.

WATERTOWN, MN – The golden spike was successfully discovered this past Saturday morning (July 18), after a long week in hiding. Chad and Ben Hoppke (a father and son duo) uncovered the spike behind the new elementary school in Watertown. Chad, the father, explained the week of searching. ” I woke up today [Saturday) at 6:30 a.m. and went out with my computer and other technology. I kept refreshing the website waiting for the updated clue. I found it out past the soccer fields… and there it was just sticking out of the ground.” Chad explained that Ben was reluctant to wake up on Saturday morning, but had helped a great deal earlier in the week. For finding the spike, the Hoppke’s will receive $300 in Caleb’s cash, which can be spent at many Watertown businesses.
