Breakfast on the Farm donates $1,000

BkWRIGHT COUNTY, MN  –  The Wright County Breakfast on the Farm committee recently presented a check for $1,000 to the food shelf and Wright County Community Action. The money was gathered from proceeds made from a “Breakfast on the Farm” event last summer at Bakeberg Farms in Waverly. Shown are Pat Bakeberg, Shirley Legatt of WCCA, and Faye Bakeberg. Plans are in the works for another Breakfast on the Farm event, set for Saturday, June 19.

Swans go for a swim in flooded field between Winsted and Howard Lake

swanMcLEOD COUNTY, MN – Dozens of graceful swans were spotted swimming in a flood field about a half-mile west of Victor Township Hall Wednesday. Flooded fields are an increasingly common sight around Wright, Carver, and McLeod counties. Wright Co. dairy banquet set for Sat., March 27

dairyWRIGHT COUNTY, MN – The Wright County Dairy Association will be hosting an ambassador gala Saturday March 27 at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo. The public is welcome to partake in ice cream and cake at 1:30 p.m. and a program to follow to say farewell and thank you to 2009 royalty, as well as meet the new ambassadors for 2010. The current princesses are Kelsey Kolles, daughter of Mark and JoAnn Kolles of Otsego, Jillian Koch, daughter of Jeff and Janell Koch of Winsted, and Krista Nelson, daughter of Mike and Sue Nelson of Cokato. There are four younger ladies who will be promoting the dairy industry’s wholesome, nutritious, and delicious products this year, they are: Katie Davis of Cokato, Rebecca Groos of Howard Lake, Sabrina Kieser of Howard Lake, and Krista Lambert of Buffalo. Film by KJ McDonald about Irish culture to be viewed Sat., March 20

kjWATERTOWN, MN – The film “An Irish Holiday,” a professional film by KJ McDonald of Watertown, will be unveiled during a public viewing Saturday, March 20.

At the first and only public showing at 2 p.m., Sat., March 20, viewers may be seated alongside nine local travelers (the McDonald clan and friends of Watertown) as they explore Ireland’s renowned idyllic countryside, rugged coastline, ancient monuments and castles. Read more

Howard Lake Expo is at HLWW Middle School

hleHOWARD LAKE, MN – The Howard Lake Expo is  set for Saturday, March 20 at the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted Middle School, offering a free breakfast, entertainment, and a chance to explore area businesses.

The expo will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the HLWW Middle School (not high school, as reported in the print version).  There is no charge for the event, and the public is encouraged to attend.

Entertainment includes the HLWW jazz band, a 30-minute murder mystery by Belinda Larson and her students, as well as a hairdo competition from local salons.  Exhibits from businesses in Howard Lake and the surrounding area are the main attraction, and will be located in the gym. Businesses from any city are welcome to reserve a booth.
