Immaculate Conceptions Fall Festival Sept. 18

There will be a Fall Festival Sunday, Sept. 18 at Immaculate Conception Church, 109 Angel Ave. NW, Watertown. Homestyle turkey dinner with all the fixings and dessert. Serving from 10:30 am-1:30 pm. Tickets: $15 adults and takeout, $5 kids 12 and under. Food, beer, kids games, live music, bingo, silent auction, raffle and country market from 10 am-2 pm. Fun for the whole family!

Krauser’s Dodge House will be hosting Freedom Fest in Lester Prairie this Saturday, September 17 starting at 1 pm.

Stop out for a day of fun! Donkeyball Baseball starts at 1 pm at the Lester Prairie Ball Fields, bean bags start at 3 pm, Jesse Wemhoff will play music from 5-6 pm, then from 6 pm to Midnight there will be back to back entertainment from Isaiah Muller with the Treefrogs, and South 40.

Update on crash in Hollywood twp. where 6 were injured

Update from the Carver County Sheriff’s Office:

The driver of the southbound vehicle has been identified as Chad Zellmann, 23, from Norwood
Young America. The passenger was Carmen Grangroth, 20, from Waverly, MN.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle has been identified as Annie Hendrickson, 16, from Kimball,
MN. The passengers were Selina Siltala, 15, Vanessa Homola, 15, and Kindra Foley, 17, from
Cokato, Watertown Township, and Dassel, respectively.

Hendrickson and Siltala remain hospitalized at this time, all others have been treated and
released.

The Carver County Sheriff’s Office reported that at approximately 1:47 p.m.  Aug.  14, it received a 9-1-1 call of a personal injury crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of Country Road 21 and County Road 20 in Hollywood Township.

Deputies arrived on the scene and learned that a 23-year-old male from Norwood Young America, was driving a motor vehicle southbound on County Road 21 and ran through a stop sign at County Road 20 hitting an eastbound vehicle occupied by four juvenile females.

The eastbound vehicle did not have a stop sign.
The 23-year-old male driver and his 20-year-old female passenger from Waverly, were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two juvenile female occupants of the eastbound vehicle, the 16-year-old driver from Kimball, and a 15- year-old from Cokato, were transported by air to Hennepin County Medical Center with critical injuries. The other two juvenile female occupants, a 15-year-old from Watertown Township, and a 17-year-old from Dassel, were transported to Ridgeview Medical Center via ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Watertown Fire Department, Mayer Fire Department, Ridgeview Ambulance, North Air Care, Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) ,and the Carver County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Carver County Sheriff’s Office and the MSP.

Funeral notice: Dan Hoese, 73

Dan Hoese, 73, died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022, at his home in Watertown Township, MN.
The funeral service will take place today, Friday, Aug. 19, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church (209 Blue Jay Avenue) in Mayer, MN, with Rev. Adam Gless as officiate.
Visitation will take place Thursday, Aug. 18, at Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia, MN and will continue one hour before the service on Friday at the church.
A prayer service will take place Thursday evening at Johnson Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Mayer immediately following the service.
