Funeral notice: Elton Schrupp, 80

Elton Ernest “Sneaky” Schrupp, 80, of Delano, MN (formerly of Watertown, MN, and Longville, MN), passed away peacefully Oct. 6, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society in Waconia after a short battle with lung cancer and pneumonia.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown, with Rev. George Morris officiating on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m.
Visitation with the family will begin two hours before the celebration of life.
Private interment will be held at Fort Snelling Nov. 16 at 2 p.m.

Fatal accident in Woodland Township kills one, injuries two

At 2:33 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, the Wright County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a report of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 30 SW and Clementa Avenue SW (County Road 110) in Woodland Township.

Wright County deputies responded along with members of the Montrose Fire Department, Waverly Fire Department, Ridgeview Ambulance, and Lifelink Helicopter.

A 2003 Jeep Cherokee was Southbound on Clementa Avenue SW and collided with a 2013 Dodge Avenger that was Westbound on County Road 30. The driver of the Jeep Cherokee was identified as Molly Bickman, 52, from Montrose. She was deceased upon the arrival of first responders.

The occupants of the Dodge Avenger were identified as driver Sharon Lachermeier, 71, of Winsted, and passenger William Norman, 72, also of Winsted.

They were transported to the hospital by Lifelink Helicopter and Ridgeview Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.

No injuries reported during Watertown business fire

Watertown, MN –Fire officials are investigating what caused a second alarm fire at a Watertown business Wednesday morning.

According to the Watertown Fire Department, crews were called to a fire that was reported to be near a lumber yard on the south side of Watertown shortly before 4 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found flames had engulfed the rear warehouse.

Watertown Fire Chief Tom Hanson says the building, which was determined to be Arrow Building Center, is considered to be a complete loss.

Chief Hanson adds no one was reported injured.

Multiple fire departments were called in to help extinguish the flames, including Delano, Mayer, Montrose and St. Bonifacius

Teen injured in Watertown Township crash

Watertown, MN –A 19-year-old from St. Louis Park was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash in Carver County the evening of Sept. 17, according to the Minnesota State Patrol (MSP).
Authorities said Olivia Nelsen was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) in Minneapolis for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
The MSP said Nelsen was traveling eastbound on Highway 7 near County Road 10 in Watertown Township when the vehicle crossed lane lines and hit a driveway approach, causing it to go airborne and roll.
The crash happened just after 6:30 p.m.

Immaculate Conceptions Fall Festival Sept. 18

There will be a Fall Festival Sunday, Sept. 18 at Immaculate Conception Church, 109 Angel Ave. NW, Watertown. Homestyle turkey dinner with all the fixings and dessert. Serving from 10:30 am-1:30 pm. Tickets: $15 adults and takeout, $5 kids 12 and under. Food, beer, kids games, live music, bingo, silent auction, raffle and country market from 10 am-2 pm. Fun for the whole family!
