What’s that smell? Understanding reduced oxygen levels and fish loss in lakes and rivers

If you live near a lake, you may have noticed a particular aroma coming from the lake over the last several weeks.
That aroma is rotting fish. There have been multiple reports in the area of several winterkills this year. Winterkills occur in lakes and rivers when oxygen levels are reduced, According to Madeline Seveland of the Carver County Water Management Organization.

Expanding its footprint: Krauser’s Dodge House completes first phase of remodel

With the purchase of the former Prairie Market building, the Krauser’s Dodge House Bar in Lester Prairie is expanding its footprint in the community.
Owner Gary Krause started work on the expansion June 2022. Construction began where the former market’s produce section used to be. The expansion is planned to be in phases. The first phase of the expansion was completed April 22.
