I Love to Read Month: Looking for volunteer readers to take a trip to either Humphrey or Winsted Elementary and read to a group of young students. We will be attending the elementary schools on Tuesday, February 28th during 7th period. Students can sign-up with Mrs. Amland during their lunch hour. You will receive a permission slip that must be signed by your 7th hour instructor, a parent/guardian, and Mr. Day. In order to participate, students must be following all school policies and the syllabus of their 7th hour class. Let’s get involved and express the importance of reading to young students. Deadline to sign-up is Thursday, February 16th. Thank you!

HLWW will open up section action Tuesday, Feb. 14 against Eden Valley-Watkins (7th seed) at Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City (2nd seed) starting at 6 p.m.

If the Lakers would beat EVW, they would then face ACGC that same night at 7:30 p.m.

The Section 5A semifinals and championship will be Friday, Feb. 17 at Minnewaska (6 and 7:30 p.m.).

This tourney is for youth wrestling students grades k-6, and  will be an eight-mat open tournament.

Weigh-in will be from 9-10 a.m. for grades k-3, and 10-11 a.m. for grades 4-6.

Wrestling will begin at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the HLWW High School gym, 8700 County Road 6 SW, Howard Lake.

The entry fee is $10 per wrestler.

Spectator fee is $2 per adult. Concessions will be available.

SNOW FEST

The girls had their hair done by volunteers from Emmy’s Salon and community members, and each received a tiara to take home. There was a royal photo shoot with the Howard Lake Royalty, and a princess story read while enjoying tea and refreshments. The girls also enjoyed dancing; creating and decorating their own sash, crown bag, and wand; playing princess games; and decorating a photo holder. The day ended with the young princesses putting on a runway show for their parents and guests.
