One Seriously Injured in Wright County Crash

A Maple Lake man was seriously injured in a crash near Clearwater the evening of Tuesday, Aug. 16.

The Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) said 63-year-old Peter Miessen was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

MSP said Miessen was driving his motorcycle south on Highway 24. A vehicle, driven by 67-year-old David Kunkel of Clearwater, was traveling west on 160th Street Northwest when the collision occurred in the intersection.

Kunkel was not injured.

The crash happened just before 5:30 p.m.

Two die in head-on crash Friday in Wright County

Two people died in a head-on traffic crash that happened Friday, Aug. 12 evening in Wright County.

According to the Wright County Sheriff’s Department just before 10 p.m., two passenger cars collided on Wright County Road 3, near the intersection of County Road 30 in Stockholm Township, south of Cokato.

Officials say evidence deputies gathered at the scene, as well as witness statements suggest that a Mazda passenger car driven by 27-year-old Vincent Beaudet of Hutchinson was traveling north in the southbound lane when his vehicle collided head-on with a Hyundai passenger car driven by 39-year-old Michael Wolford of Litchfield, formerly of Winsted.

Authorities say both vehicles sustained heavy damage, and both drivers suffered severe injuries. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The Cokato Ambulance and Fire Department, Allina Ambulance, and personnel from Lifelink assisted Wright County Sheriff’s Deputies.

The circumstances surrounding the fatal crash are still under investigation by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office.

Two teens critically injured in car accident in Hollywood Township

The Carver County Sheriff’s Office reports that at approximately 1:47 p.m.  Aug.  14, it received a 9-1-1 call of a personal injury crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of Country Road 21 and County Road 20 in Hollywood Township.
Deputies arrived on the scene and learned that a 23-year-old male from Norwood Young America, was driving a motor vehicle southbound on County Road 21 and ran through a stop sign at County Road 20 hitting an eastbound vehicle occupied by four juvenile females.

The eastbound vehicle did not have a stop sign.
The 23-year-old male driver and his 20-year-old female passenger from Waverly, were transported to Hennepin County Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two juvenile female occupants of the eastbound vehicle, the 16-year-old driver from Kimball, and a 15- year-old from Cokato, were transported by air to Hennepin County Medical Center with critical injuries. The other two juvenile female occupants, a 15-year-old from Watertown Township, and a 17-year-old from Dassel, were transported to Ridgeview Medical Center via ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Watertown Fire Department, Mayer Fire Department, Ridgeview Ambulance, North Air Care, Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) ,and the Carver County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.

UPDATE:
The driver of the southbound vehicle has been identified as Chad Zellmann, 23, from Norwood
Young America. The passenger was Carmen Grangroth, 20, from Waverly, MN.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle has been identified as Annie Hendrickson, 16, from Kimball,
MN. The passengers were Selina Siltala, 15, Vanessa Homola, 15, and Kindra Foley, 17, from
Cokato, Watertown Township, and Dassel, respectively.

Hendrickson and Siltala remain hospitalized at this time, all others have been treated and
released.

The crash remains under investigation by the Carver County Sheriff’s Office and the MSP.

Buffalo man in custody after his father found fatally shot

A Buffalo man is in custody in connection to the shooting death of his father, who was found dead inside his northern Minnesota cabin.
According to the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office, the 62-year-old father, also from Buffalo, was reported missing July 26 after he hadn’t been heard from in three days.
The father and his 24-year-old son had gone up to their cabin in Aitkin County July 22.
The father’s other son went to the cabin after making “numerous unanswered calls” and found no vehicles around and the cabin’s main door padlocked.
Deputies were called in to search around the cabin and soon saw a dead man inside through a window.
After a search warrant was granted, investigators went inside and confirmed the victim was the father, who had “a single gunshot wound to the back of the head.”
The 24-year-old son is awaiting criminal charges in the Aitkin County Jail.

The Wall That Heals arrives today

The Wall That Heals is slated to arrive in Winsted today, Tuesday, July 26. Winsted Police Chief Justin Heldt and Howard Lake Police Chief Dave Thompson are coordinating an arrival escort of motorcyclists, law enforcement vehicles, first-responders, and others.
The will see the escort beginning at Dura Supreme in Howard Lake, moving up Hwy. 12, to CSAH 6 and onto the Winstock grounds. The escort should arrive at approximately 2:15 p.m.

Hutchinson man arrested after ATV crash

A Hutchinson man was arrested after an ATV crash Tuesday, July 5 at night.

According to the McLeod County Sheriff’s Office at 9:16pm, they responded to a crash on Highway 7, east of Hutchinson.

The Sheriff’s Office said two individuals were transported to the hospital, but did not give details of their injuries.

As a result, deputies arrested a 26-year-old Hutchinson man on probable cause criminal vehicular operation and endangerment of a child-person and transported him to the McLeod County Jail in Glencoe.

Hutchinson Fire, Hutchinson Police, the MN State Patrol, Allina Ambulance, and Life Link also assisted.
