Carver County transit system merges with Scott County

CARVER COUNTY, MN – The Carver Area Rural Transit (CART) merged with the Scott County transit system Jan. 1 in order to expand services to riders while improving efficiency, the Carver County News reported.

The new system is named SmartLink Transit.

According to the Carver County News, local demand for transit service has steadily increased in recent years. CART served  more than 52,000 passengers in 2008, and Scott County served more than 145,000. In 2009, the two counties had a combined increase of more than 12,000 passengers.
