CARVER COUNTY, MN – At approximately 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, the Carver County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that sheriff’s deputies responded to a possible armed person at Ridgeview Medical Center. UPDATE 1-25-18 3:10 P.M. Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson reports that sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a person with a firearm near Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia on 1/25/2018 at 1:17 pm. Deputies happened to be in the area at the time the call was dispatched and were able to begin an immediate investigation. Deputies notified Southview Elementary and Bayview Elementary Schools, Good Samaritan Nursing Home, and area day care centers of the situation and suggested lockdown as a precautionary measure. Deputies established a perimeter and searched for the subject, but were unable to locate the subject or any person matching the description. Deputies investigated the matter and determined there was no credible, firsthand knowledge of a person with a firearm. An anonymous caller reported a person with a gun on Cherry St, near Ridgeview Medical Center. Early indications are this incident is connected to an ongoing dispute between two people wherein one party made a threatening statement to the other. There does not appear to be a threat to the public. The matter remains under investigation by the Carver County Sheriff’s Office.
