CARVER COUNTY, MN – Six stolen vehicles, with a combined value of $188,000, were recovered from a storage property in Waconia Township Jan. 27, according to a press release from the Carver County Sheriff’s Office.
An employee of Minnesota Inboard Watersports (which has locations in Excelsior and New Germany) told the sheriff’s office that two Malibu Wakesetter boats (combined value of $134,000) had been stolen and were currently at 6750 Co. Rd. 10 in Waconia Township.
Sheriff’s deputies learned Roger David Nitz, 52, of Chanhassen leases the County Road 10 property for small engine repair and vehicle/boat storage. Deputies obtained a search warrant and recovered the boats, as well as four other stolen vehicles: a 2003 Ford F350, a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, a Bobcat S185 with plow attachment, and an Audi A6, with a combined value of about $54,000.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Nitz without incident at a Chanhassen address. He was transported to the Carver County Jail and charged with six felony counts of receiving stolen property. Nitz posted $5,000 bail Jan. 31. His next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 8:30 am.
Sheriff’s deputies are continuing to investigate this matter.
