Calling all dirty cars, hungry tummies, and garage salers

HOWARD LAKE, MN – The very last fundraiser for the mission trip that I will be going on in a few weeks will take place this week.

So bring us your dirty cars, your hungry tummies, and come find some little treasures at our BBQ, car wash, and garage sale Thursday, June 10 at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Hwy. 12 in Howard Lake.

We will be serving hot dogs, brats, and hamburgers from 3 to 7 p.m., as well as washing cars for donations.

Please come show your support and help the St. John’s youth group get to Atlanta, GA to share our love for Jesus.

Congratulations Orphans!
The holiday weekend proved to be a fabulous one for the HL Orphans who started it off with an 11-0 win over the Cokato Kings May 28, in eight innings.

Several lucky fans were treated to free chair massages by the Montrose Family Chiropractic Clinic, which set up a tent at the game and will likely return again sometime during the season.

Winners of a free nine-hole round of golf at the Howard Lake Greens, were Jeff Lehner and Andy Brown. Winners of gift certificates to Sunni’s Grille were Dale Burau and Ardis Kottke.

Following its Friday win, the Orphans delivered a big loss May 30 to the Rockford River Bandits with a 14-0 score in seven innings.

The winner of a free nine-hole round of golf at the HL Greens, at this game was Kent Landin “Swany” and winning a gift certificate to Sunni’s Grille was Don Garden.

With about 145 fans enjoying Sunday’s game, Memorial Park was rocking on Memorial Day weekend!

Run for the Lake
The sixth annual “Run for the Lake” 5K is scheduled for 8 a.m. Sunday, June 27, during Good Neighbor Days.

Registration forms can be picked up at Howard Lake Drug, Vital Fitness, and Gold’s Gym in Buffalo, or online at www.howardlakegoodneighbordays.webs.com

Registration prior to the day of the race is $20, which includes a T-shirt. Same-day registration will be $25.

Book donations wanted
Friends of Howard Lake Library is collecting gently used books for their GND sale. Books can be dropped of at the HL City Hall.

Afghan drawing
The HL Senior Citizens Club will be displaying an afghan (shown) that they are giving away during GND at local businesses, including the Howard Lake Drug store and Security State Bank.

During the month of June all who make donations will be included in the drawing.

The seniors will also have the afghan displayed at that root beer float stand behind city hall the weekend of GND.
