BOYS HOCKEY: LDC advances to semifinals with 5-1 win over Worthington

LITCHFIELD — The Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato (LDC) boys got over their first postseason hump Thursday night, topping Worthington 5-1 at home in the Section 3A quarterfinals.

The Dragons are the No. 2 seed for the tournament. Worthington was No. 7.

The win puts LDC in the semifinal game against No. 3 New Ulm Saturday at Lund Arena at Gustavus College. The puck drops at 8 p.m.

The Eagles defeated No. 6 Windom 6-2 in the quarterfinals.

In the other half of the bracket, No. 1 Hutchinson advanced on to the semifinals with a 10-0 win over No. 8 Fairmont.

The Tigers play No. 5 Luverne Saturday in the early game, at 6 p.m.

Luverne knocked off No. 4 Marshall 4-3 Thursday night.

The section championship game is Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Lund Arena.
