The bowling season is over. So very sad! We still had a great time last night. Again there were just three of us; Kari, Kristi, and I. We spent more time laughing than anything! For some reason everything was funny. Especially when I started writing Kristi’s scores in Kari’s boxes. Opps. I guess I can’t count and figure out scores while writing down current scores. Women and muti-tasking isn’t always true.
I didn’t make my 150. Maybe next season. I did get 95, 106, and 131. My average from last week was 99 so hopefully I will be over 100 average now.
Kari was our superstar bowler last night. She got 165! First time in the paper. Congrats! She was very excited. Almost as excited as getting a third turn in the 10th frame.
It came down at the end of the last game of which team was going to make the fourth slot of roll-offs next week. We were tied with another team, so they had to go by total pins. We were lacking in that area, so we ended up being fifth out of six teams. Go HJ! I guess I forgot about the whole competition aspect of the game. It was a real nail-biter.
Overall it was a lot of fun being able to bowl. I have learned a lot and still do better than I ever did. What will I do with my Thursdays? Ladies - we should get together every once in awhile over the summer for open bowling. Can’t get to rusty!
Until next year!
(I will have to admit: last weekend I was channel surfing and noticed there was bowling on. So I turned it on for about 15 minutes to see what the professionals look like. I just had to laugh at myself.)
Last night was another exciting night at bowling. Last week we got snowed out so we still have one more week of bowling left. Yey! We still think we should get points for last week because we were the only team not informed that bowling was canceled, so we all showed up. To bad the place wasn’t open, we would have bowled anyways.
Due to injuries and plans, we only had three of us bowling last night. But we still managed to win all three games! Go team!
I did about average last night. 98, 143, & 119. Only 7 pins away from making the paper! One week left! I better kick it into gear! My last game half or more of the frames I had 9 pins down but managed to keep missing that lonely pin on my second attempts. Those single pins just don’t want to go down! But still, overall I am still doing better than I was. Maybe I should try practicing…
To end a fun season of bowling, at the end of the month the league is having a bowling banquet. Never been to one of those, but why not! Sounds like they have a good time. It is going to be a long summer!
This blog today is dedicated to Kari who got a 149 in her last game of the night. Only one pin away from making the paper! If this were me I would be crushed, however Kari was more excited that the last two games she was able to bowl three times in the 10th frame! Go you!
I will also mention our next super star of the night: Kathy! She will be in the paper come Monday morning. I think she got a 164? Her last 4 balls of the night were all strikes! I don’t think she believed it. What a way to end the night.
I didn’t have anything over exciting happen to me. I did get over 100 each game again which is great for me! 109, 123, and 112. So overall I am doing much better. I kept getting 8 and 9 pins down, but managed to keep missing the spares.
Way to go gals. That includes you too Wendy and Ann! I think we all did great. Only two more weeks left!
Another fun night at bowling. Don’t worry - only three more weeks left you have to put up with me! Just when I start to get into it, the season is over. Anyone bored on the weekends and wants to bowl, let me know!
Last night my hand-eye coordination was just a tad off. Ok I lied, it was way off. For some reason the ball wanted to go in the opposite direction of the pins. The hook I had learned to do just stopped working. I think user error was the problem! Or isn’t there something I can blame called ‘bad lane conditions?” Yeah that sounds good to me. Bad lane conditions it is. My scores were 107, 87, then 141!
My new ball was great. At least the last game of the night I started with three strikes! The fourth frame I got nine pins down and the 10th wobbled back and forth. So heartbreaking! That would have been cool! Getting 78 in the first three frames was exciting though.
Kristi and Kari returned from their vacation and bowled last night. We all think they were practicing on the beach while they were gone. No gals, I haven’t named my ball yet like you said to. We pondered ‘dusty’ for all the gutter balls. Maybe something will come about next week.
Wendy of course made the paper again this week. Go Wendy! Maybe in 20-30 years I will be as good. Yeah right! Such an inspiration to us all. Denise did awesome, but then had to sit out due to injury.
That is about all the highlights for the week. Did I miss anything gals?
New concept for the week: heavier ball makes more pins go down. Yes of course I could have figured this one out on my own, but sometimes you need other people to get you to actually listen. I have been using a 10 pound ball but in practice I was finally convinced to try a heavier ball. Wow, I am a lot stronger than I thought. 13 pounds! It was a brand new ball drilled wrong, so at the end of the three games if my arm wasn’t tired, I was actually able to buy it. Yes, I now own a bowling ball. I feel professional all ready! (I have to get fitted for it and two holes re-drilled, but thats ok by me!).
My only worry now: Accessories. I began thinking to myself last night - well I am going to have to get a bowling bag now to carry the new ball in! Oh no. Please stop me now. Good thing I am one of those women who hates buying shoes, so I can put off getting bowling shoes for a very long time.
Kari and Kristi you missed it! I got a 175! Ok just kidding. I will give the new ball the credit though for my first goal being achieved… I broke over 100 all three games! 104, 103, and 101! Now that is consistency! Go figure more pins go down when more weight is thrown at them. Sensei Wendy did get over 150 on each of her games. Kathy and Denise did awesome too! Even our dummy score wasn’t bad. Hehe. We had lots of shaded boxes all around. Black is our new favorite color.
Now I just have to keep practicing. Even if I don’t get any better, I will still be happy because I am already better than what I used to be! Until next week ladies…
